You MUST be using d3d hardware TNL render when handling bump mapped objects.

In game you must use the same render if you want to see the bump mapping effect. Otherwise it looks like any normal object.

You're only going to see bumpmapped objects when using D3D TnL render.

After further investigation I found that Antigonus is partly correct. while you wont see bumpmaps using standard D3D, any model that uses a bumpmap is completely invisible in the editor while using the d3d render.

Something must have gotten changed in the exe or dll's that inadvertently changed the way bumpmapped objects are viewed in the editor...

I think they have always been like that. Confused

But you can test that easily, by testing editor with Evo2 dll's, and exe.
