I have come to an impasse of sort and I could use some opinions.
I would like you guys to try out set of Midday sky textures and tell me which style you like better.
Since these are midday texture you can put them in the public beta version of revo because they use the same filenames but be certain to mount them ABOVE the Startup.pod in your pod.ini file or they wont work and only mount one at a time.
The first set is labeled SKY1.POD and it's sky scene is rendered with the sun above the clouds which gives the clouds a natural look with highlight above and shadows below the clouds. This would be the prefered method however I am not able to render the scene without the sun being invisible. In most cases that would be fine but as we know evo/revo uses its own sun ingame and it might look unusual to have to suns in the sky. The best I could do here is to render the sun behind some thick clouds to make it less noticable.
The second set is labeled SKY2.POD and it's scene is rendered with the sun below the clouds and it give the clouds an unusual look however there is no visible sun in the sky which makes sky/clouds in this set nore generic looking and slightly unnatural.
Also let me know whcih of the blues you like better, the lighter onein sky1 or the deeper one in sky2.
Thanks for your help!

In my opinion the sky 2 with deeper blue is muuuch better than the 1st blue.
Great work with these! _________________ ŃŲ_Masa RS-E

Thanks, I'm partial to the deeper blue sky in sky2 as well but I prefer the clouds in sky1.
Something I found while experimenting was that in the editor the sky texture/skybox position is directly tied to the sun's position, at least laterally. If in the editor you move the sun's position from say southeast to southwest both the sun and the skybox moves to that position...so the sun is always at the same spot on the sky texture unless you move the sun up or down then the skybox always stays in the same position.
Currently the game has the sun tied to the upper right corner of sky texture #3, Its the same for dusk as well. Knowing this makes it easier to determine the sun's position when I'm rendering the new textures so things like sunrays are pointing in the right direction.
(Just thought I would put that out there incase someone else wants to try this)
You should see the new dusk skybox, looks pretty snazzy if I do say so myself. I should have the new dusk textures up for testing this evening.
I have another question for everyone, Would you guys want to have a moon to be turned on in Night and Pitch Black game modes, and in Pitch Black do you guys think it should be just that, all black , no moon or stars?? _________________ Chachoze |

I like the way you did that Chachoze. The colors are great.
And I would like a moon at night......

Well here's another set for you viewing pleasure, it includes a new Midday, Fog and Rain sky texture sets. The fog one turned out real nice I think as it blends in well with the color of the fog.
Give them a whirl and let me know what you think.
